Introduction to Common Tyres for Heavy Trucks

Category: Industry trends Author: Source: Release time: 2021-04-15

At present, the commonly used tyres for heavy trucks are divided into radial tyres, tubeless tyres, and nylon tyres according to their internal structure. The specifications and meanings are as follows:

1. Specifications of radial tyres for heavy truck tyres

The specification of radial tyres for heavy truck tyres is 12.00R20-18: The first two digits 11 or 12 indicate the tyre section width (inch), the third and fourth digits (00) indicate the aspect ratio, that is, the ratio of the section height to width, and the fifth digit (R) indicates the tyre has a radial structure, the seventh and eighth digits (20) indicate the rim diameter (inch), and the last two digits (18) indicate the ply rating of the tyre.

2. Specifications of tubeless tyre (vacuum tyre) for heavy truck tyres

The specification of a tubeless tyre (vacuum tyre) for heavy truck tyres is 12R22.5-18: The first two digits 11 or 12 indicate the tyre section width (inch), the third digit (R) indicates that the tyre is a radial structure, the fourth, fifth and sixth digits (22.5) represent the rim diameter (inch), and the last two digits (18) represent the ply rating of the tyre. As a China OTR tyre supplier, Aulice has the truck tyre for sale, send us an email to get more information.

3. Specifications of nylon tyre (bias tyre) for heavy truck tyres

The specification of nylon tyre (bias tyre) for heavy truck tyres is 12.00-20-20, the first two digits 11 or 12 indicate the tyre section width (inch), the fifth digit (–) indicates that the tyre is a nylon tyre structure, the sixth and seventh digits (20 or 24) indicate the rim diameter (inch), and the last two digits (20) indicate the ply rating of the tyre.

The ply rating of the tyre is the concept of strength. Rating 1 represents the strength of one layer of cotton. The larger the rating, the higher the strength, but it does not necessarily represent the actual number of layers. For example, an 8-rating carcass is equivalent to 14 layers.
