How to Avoid Abnormal Wear of Heavy Truck Tires

Category: Industry trends Author: Source: Release time: 2021-01-11

1. Pay attention to the tyre pressure: Tyre pressure is the lifeblood of heavy truck tires, and too high or too low tyre pressure will shorten their service life. If the tyre pressure is too low, the deformation of the tyre body increases, and the sidewall is prone to crack. At the same time, the flexion movement will occur, which results in excessive heat generation, and promotes rubber aging, the fatigue of cord fabric as well as cord fracture. Too low the tyre pressure is will also increase the tire contact area, accelerating the shoulder wear of tyres. However, if the tyre pressure is too high, the tyre cord will deform under excessive elongation, and the elasticity of the tire body will drop, so that the load of the car will increase in driving. In case of impact, internal cracking and blasting will occur. At the same time, the high tyre pressure will accelerate the wear of the tire crown and decrease the rolling resistance.

2. Check the front-wheel positioning regularly: Front-wheel positioning has a great influence on the service life of heavy truck tires, and the toe-in of front-wheel and the extroversion of front-wheel are main causes. The extroversion of front-wheel will accelerate the wear of tire shoulder, that is, the eccentric wear; too small or too large toe-in of front-wheel mainly accelerates the inside and outside wear of the tyre.

3. Pay attention to the driving style: In addition to handling situations in driving, drivers should choose a good road surface. Drivers should avoid sharp stones, glass, metal and other objects that may puncture and scratch the heavy truck tires, and avoid the adhesion and corrosion of chemical residue on tyres. When driving on a road surface with high arching, drivers should drive in the middle of the road as far as possible, so as to reduce the uneven tire wear caused by the load increase of the tyre on one side.

4. Avoid overload: Under normal circumstances, 20% overload will reduce the tyre life by 30%, and 40% overload will reduce 50% of heavy truck tires life.

5. Drivers should avoid quick turning, emergency braking, high-speed starts, rapid acceleration and other behaviors that have an impact on heavy truck tires.
