Comparison between the Radial Truck Tyre and the Ordinary Bias Ply Tyre

Compared with the ordinary bias ply tyre, the radial truck tyre has the following advantages:

1. Small rolling resistance and fuel saving

Thanks to the belt ply, the deformation degree and relative slippage of the crown after the tyre hitting the ground is much smaller than that of the ordinary tyre, and the sidewall of the radial truck tyre is thin as well as recovers quickly after deformation. These two features can help reduce the internal wear of the tyre and the rolling resistance. Tests have proved that the rolling resistance of the radial truck tyre is 20%~30% lower than that of the ordinary bias ply tyre, which can save fuel by 5%~10%.

2. The tread has good wear resistance and a long lifetime

When the wheel rolls, the curved surface of the tyre on the ground is deformed and slipped, and the deformation promotes slip, which intensifies the wear of the tread. The radial truck tyre crown has features of high rigidity, small deformation, almost no slip, large contact area on the ground, small and average unit pressure, so the tread wear is reduced. Tests prove that the lifetime of the radial truck tyre is 30%-40% longer than that of the bias ply tires.

3. Great flexibility and good cushioning

Radial truck tyre cords are arranged in a radial direction, and when the wheel rotates, the deformation of the tyre perpendicular to the ground is bigger than that of the bias tyre, the carcass is soft and has good elasticity, so the ride comfort of the car is improved.

4.Strong stab resistance

The radial truck tyre has a hard belt ply, which greatly enhances the puncture resistance of the tyre crown, reduces the risk of tyre blowouts and improves driving safety.

5. Strong adhesion

The radial truck tyre has a larger ground contact area during driving, and the belt ply makes the ground pressure distribute averagely, thereby improving adhesion and reducing sideslip.
