The tire is the only part of the vehicle that is in contact with the road surface. The tire must keep a balance among traction, comfort-ability, durability, energy saving and total cost. In order to meet these conflicting needs at the same time, the design and manufacture of tires may be more complex than expected. Today, AULICE will talk about the tire construction from the outside to the inside.
1. Tire tread
Tread is the outermost layer of a tire, also known as the tire crown. The tread is the most closely contacted part between the tire and the ground. Therefore, the function of the tread is to provide traction in various situations, and it must have the characteristics of wear resistance, friction resistance and heat resistance.
2. Sidewall of Tire
The sidewall of the tire is a declaration column of the tire. The tire size, and tire construction can be claimed on the sidewall label. In addition, the sidewall is like the spine of the tire, protecting the tire from shoulder impingement and other effects. And the sidewall is also the most vulnerable part of the tire. If it is damaged here, you need to go to a professional organization for repair and replacement as soon as possible.
3. The steel belt layer
It provides a rigid foundation for tread. It can be said that the resistance of the tire to stone and debris is largely due to the steel belt, which provides the strength to counteract the centrifugal force and lateral force for the tire, which directly affects the lifespan, driving speed and handling of the tire.
4. The carcass ply
The carcass ply is made of high-strength fabric fibers bonded to rubber. It is directly related to the strength of the tire and is also the last safety barrier of the tire. Once the carcass ply is damaged, the tire must be replaced. The common bulging is the external manifestation of damage to the carcass ply.
5. The bead
The tire bead is made of hanging plastic steel wire intertwined in a certain shape, which can fix the tire. It is composed of bead steel wire and bead wrapping cloth. It can bear the tensile force caused by internal pressure, and can overcome the lateral force of tire during turning, so that the tire will not come out of the rim. Therefore, it must have a very high strength structure, compact and strong, not easy to deformation.
6. Covering layer
The covering layer is also called crown belt layer, which is responsible for preventing the displacement or detachment of the lower steel cord layer during tire driving, so as to ensure the dimensional integrity and stability of the tire under high speed operation.
7. Buffer strip
The buffer strip protects the ply and prevents excessive friction between the steel cord and the carcass ply.
8. Tyre inner liner
The inner liner keeps the air tightness of the tire, maintains the normal tire pressure, and stores the air, which is equivalent to the inner tube of a bicycle.
9. Triangle adhesive tape
The filler above the tire bead can restrain the expansion deformation of the tire due to gravity, thus slowing down the bead pressure and preventing air leakage.
Different tire constructions perform different functions. Once a certain construction fails, the safety of tire will be threatened. It is necessary to find a professional organization for inspection and "treatment" as soon as possible. Otherwise, the performance of the tire will be greatly reduced, and the safety cannot be guaranteed.
